I thought both novels were fantastic, by the way, stunning really. Hopefully somebody can point something out that I missed or has some good thoughts on it.
Just a few questions I had when I finished the novel.
Maybe because there are so many raptors and so few tyranosaurs that made their behavior different, I don't know. If it is the behavior issue, then why do the T-Rex parents exhibit such good parental behavior, when they are submitted to the same conditions? They should also be infected with the prions by this time and have a lack of behavioral knowledge because they were made in the same lab. Now my questions is.is this behavior because of the infection causing them to go "mad" or is it because of the proper behavior not being taught to them from a previous generation of raptors? Like Malcolm suggests in the trailer. Levine remarks that usually dino nests are neat and taken well care of, but that is not the case here. Also, when Thorne and Levine find the raptor nest, it is in complete disarray. In one scene, one of the juvenile raptors ends up getting eaten himself just for trying to get at a fresh kill. When they make a kill, the structure of the pack goes out the window and it is every dino for themselves. The behavior of the Velociraptors thoughout the novel is explained as extremely vicious and very "survival of the fittest". What I was wondering about is the behavior of the raptors to their nest and to their infant raptors. Hopefully some of you fellow book readers can help me out. So I just finished reading The Lost World by Michael Crichton and I was wondering about the behavior of the animals on the island.
